"Rainy season"

People in Florida are liars.

"It rains everyday for 20 minutes between 3-5"

Rainy season does not mean it JUST rains between 3-5 everyday. It rains lots of other times too. It's either a downpour, or a few drops. I haven't really found an in between yet. Although, it is a warm rain and its usually sunny out (not always though as most would lead you to believe).
The speed of the storms is pretty crazy, and same for the lightening. I've never seen lightening like here, it's absolutely nuts.

I'm told the other 8 months are not rainy AKA winter...so we'll see.

Remember how I said I love packages? Well I had a ton of fun mail the other day :)
BUT today.
This came.
And wasn't supposed to be here til next Monday.
Best thing about it? I didn't have to carry them up the stairs.

I could barely contain my excitement at 10 am when I got the delivery confirmation. It's simply too late to write anymore ;)

Chinese Food

I love food.
I really like Chinese food. But I've never found a good recipe until TODAY.
Sweet & Sour Chicken. It's so good in restaurants I never thought I'd be able to make it myself plus I hate frying things.

Yum right?

So I started by making the rice because it usually takes the longest. I'm pretty much a microwave girl, but decided to be adventurous and use the stove. Follow the directions on the box (it almost always explodes in the microwave on me because I use too small of a bowl).

Next I cut up chicken into bite sized pieces and kind of dried it off. I put it in a bowl and then sprinkled a flour/spice mixture to coat all the chicken. I heated olive oil in a frying pan and dropped the pieces of chicken in and flipped until they were done.

And voila!

The sauce is the best part and also super easy. Why you ask?

Because it came from a box. Suckers.

I literally have eggs ham and cheese in my fridge. I don't even have milk, I've been drinking iced tea the past few days.

But really, it was pretty good. I still someone managed to screw up the rice it got way too sticky and a little hard.

Happy Monday

I love fooood + weekends

This weekend in pictures!

For lunch. Oysters on the half shell...steamed

And slurped

Oysters are a new thing for me...not much of a taste but good with lemon, butter and crackers.

Siesta Key beach is the #1 beach in America (in Sarasota) but I didn't take any pictures :(

Calamari for supper

And some of the best pizza in Sarasota

Today we went to Zoomers!!

We spent the morning on go karts, tilt-a-whirl, and playing skee-ball

We got drenched on the bumper boats and then dried off on the roller coaster. And by dried off I mean stayed completely drenched all through lunch 2+ hours later.

And now it's time for a nap.

Good face day.

Lets talk about something.
Most people have good hair days, I think I'm having a good face day...

1.) I do not go to the mall to pick up guys. I don't want to be hit on when I'm shopping. It's especially uncomfortable when you tell me my eyes are beautiful at the beginning of the transaction, and then I feel like I have to keep my head down while you ring up my things.

2.) "honey you have a beautiful face I would love to give you a Mary Kay facial for free" Oh wow that's so nice.
First time I've ever set down my things and walked out of a store.

3.) "your eyes are stunning" Just give me the GD lottery ticket!!

So either I usually only get complimented by random strangers and get completely freaked out, or I just really don't know how to take compliments.

Maybe today would be a good day to go to Lowe's and find my future husband ;)

2 weeks

In 2 short weeks, this little man is all mine :)

Ps. Happy 4th!! I can see the fireworks a little bit from the Cape Bridge on my lanai...someone may have forgotten that on cloudy days you get more burnt and may have under sun-screened and may be a tad bit red. But only maybe...

Happy 3rd of July!

Not to be confused with the 4th of July...
I feel like the 3rd of July is like a child who's birthday is on a holiday. You still celebrate...but the planning is already done for you and your celebrations are really meant for something else.
ie. Halloween babies, what, you want a Halloween themed birthday party EVERY year? Done.
This is a Christmas AND birthday present.

Wow this is completely off track, I love fireworks and if they happen on the 3rd of July, (or 5th!) so be it.

Tonight I went to see the Ft. Myers Miracles (they won!) play in Hammond Stadium which is also the Minnesota Twins' winter home and spring training facility. Pretty bomb right? (Don't worry Nick, I'm already checking out tickets and dates)

We will come more prepared next time. I only had $6 and that would only buy me a beer.
A) more cash
B) never get lawn seats (that's where all the parents let their children run free)
C) bring flags (they gave us American flags when we walked in so naturally I was twirling mine around in Jaclyn's face all night)

Oh what a great July 3rd it was, lets just hope the rain holds back tomorrow....

Home Depot and Boyfriends

So today is a great day. It's rained almost non stop for the past two days and it finally cleared up this afternoon. So what's a girl to do but go to Home Depot. Instead of coming home to unpack things, I decided a better idea would be to buy more. Had I went home like a loser, I would not have scored these beauties for $15

I bought some great new projects that I hope to finish later this week and maybe I'll eventually post pictures of my apartment. This post comes to you from my wonderful lanai AKA the Florida screened in porch. Which may not have been because these chairs are pretty awkward and did not fit in the trunk. They also did not fit in the back seat the first 7 ways I tried...but eventually I made it out of the parking lot. (I think it's a good thing they fit because I would have been really mad returning them and this post would have been full of more swear words than one should read in a sitting) anyway, they fit

But barely and it was almost more of a pain getting them out. I'm off to start crafting pretty things.

And with that, I leave you with clear skies and a pretty view

Ohhh the title right?
Last week I made some pretty bold statements to my mom saying I was going to build all these things and she asked me why. I simply told her that I'm sure there are cute boys that work at Home Depot.
To which she responds "I'm pretty sure a lot of ladies or old men work at the one back home, but good luck."

I hate to say it, but she was right. The man who cut my wood. Old
The 4 men that asked if I needed help finding anything (I didn't). Old
The ginger in flooring. Cute. But not legal
Check out. A lady

Guess I'll try Lowes next time
